The Delhi Capitals have suffered a disappointing start to their IPL 2023 campaign, losing their first three games. [expander_maker id=”1″ ] The team’s batting has been a major letdown, with only David Warner making a significant impact so far. Even the skipper, Rishabh Pant, has scored only at an abysmally slow rate of 117.04. The opening partner, Prithvi Shaw, has also struggled, managing only 19 runs in three innings.

Despite the poor start, the team’s batting coach, Pravin Amre, backed the players to come good, starting with their upcoming match against the Mumbai Indians. Amre highlighted the importance of focusing on the present and not looking too far ahead, seeking inspiration from the 2015 Delhi Capitals’ title-winning campaign.

As a coaching group, we believe in this team. We’ve retained 20 players. We know these boys. It’s not like we don’t know their ability,” Amre said. “It happens sometimes in big tournaments where you don’t start well. But it’s important how you finish. We believe in this team.”

Amre recognized the need for improvement in the team’s powerplay performances, with scores of 47/2, 52/2 and 38/3 in the first three games. He emphasized the need for the top four batters to get runs and urged the think tank to work on achieving that balance between aggression and caution in the powerplay.

The batting coach expressed hope that Prithvi Shaw would deliver soon, recognizing his ability as a capable batter. He also spoke about the silver lining of Axar Patel’s form, admitting that the think tank could consider giving him a more important role with the bat this season.

“We have a good option with Axar. He has been with us for five years now. The way he has batted for India was remarkable. He is a candidate, especially since he is a left-hander. It’s been on our minds on how we can utilize him best.”

Despite the disappointing start to the campaign, there is still belief in the Delhi Capitals’ team. The team’s batting coach has emphasized the importance of staying in the moment and focusing on their upcoming match against the Mumbai Indians. While the team has struggled in the early stages of the tournament, there is still hope that they can turn their form around and challenge for the title.[/expander_maker]
