Gregory, Cook took the bowling lead on the first day

The latest round of matches in the County Championship has seen some impressive performances with both bat and ball.[expander_maker id=”1″ ]

In the match between Kent and Warwickshire, Robert Yates and Sam Hain put on a batting masterclass, with Yates scoring 128 and Hain remaining unbeaten on 124*. Their partnership put Kent’s bowlers to the sword as Warwickshire ended the day on a dominant 367/3 after winning the toss and choosing to bat first.

Hampshire were struggling at 114-6 against Surrey before Ben Brown and Keith Barker came to the rescue, putting on 96 for the 7th wicket. Brown scored 95 and Barker contributed 58 as Hampshire managed to post a total of 256.

Durham’s David Bedingham scored an impressive 118, leading his team to a total of 363-7 to set up their bowlers on Day 2.

Leicestershire also had some strong batting performances, with three of their top four scoring fifties. Soloman Budinger scored a fast 72 while Lewis Hill and Colin Ackermann remained unbeaten, putting on 141 runs to end the day on a total of 243.

Meanwhile, the bowlers also had their moments to shine. Sam Cook from Essex took five wickets for 42 runs against Lancashire, removing four top and middle-order batsmen to give Essex the upper hand on Day 1 at the County ground in Chelmsford.

Lewis Gregory of Somerset took an impressive seven wickets against Nottingham, with the hosts collapsing from 125-0 to 256 all-out. Gregory took regular top-order wickets before running through the tail, but his team lost two wickets as they tried to play out until Stumps.

Overall, it was an exciting day of cricket in the County Championship, with both teams showcasing their skills and entertaining fans around the country.[/expander_maker]
