Chennai Super Kings (CSK) overcame Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by seven wickets on Friday in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match at Chennai’s M. A. Chidambaram stadium. Abhishek Sharma and Harry Brook opened the batting for SRH in a surprising move, but they made a decent start, scoring regular boundaries in the first four overs. Brook fell while trying to cut Akash Singh through the backward point, and SRH reached 45 for one after the powerplay. Abhishek Sharma batted smoothly, and Rahul Tripathi struggled to get going against the spinners. Jadeja removed Abhishek Sharma and Tripathi in consecutive overs, which began SRH’s collapse. Aiden Markram lost his wicket too, caught behind off Maheesh Theekshana’s delivery. Mayank Agarwal, who entered at number six, was stumped by MS Dhoni off Jadeja’s bowling. In a span of 28 balls, SRH slipped from 71 for one to 95 for five. Despite some useful batting from SRH’s lower order, they struggled to get quick runs, and CSK restricted them to 134 for seven. Conway and Gaikwad helped CSK score five boundaries in the first 14 balls of their innings, chasing the low target of 135. Conway slowed down briefly but then took down Marco Jensen in the last over of the powerplay, smashing four boundaries and a top-edge six that flew past the wicketkeeper. The quickfire innings ended SRH’s hopes, and CSK reached 60 for no loss by the end of the powerplay. Gaikwad lost his wicket due to a run-out, but Conway remained unbeaten, reaching 77 in 57 balls and guiding CSK to their fourth victory of the season. CSK will face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in a day-night match in Kolkata on 23rd April, while SRH will face Delhi Capitals, who recently registered their first victory of the season, on the 25th in Hyderabad.SRH start well, only to collapse
