According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, Mallett drowned off the coast of Destin, Florida.

According to authorities, Mallett, who played for the New England Patriots, Houston Texans, and Baltimore Ravens in the National Football League, was in the water with a group of other individuals when they encountered difficulties. Mallett went under, and although lifeguards brought him ashore, attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.

“We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones following his tragic death,” authorities said.

Most recently, Mallett worked as a football coach at a high school in his home state of Arkansas. “We lost a great man. Thank you for everything, Ryan,” wrote quarterback superstar Tom Brady in an Instagram story featuring a shared photo with Mallett from their time together with the Patriots.[/expander_maker]
