In a significant development, 17-year-old Argentine winger Gianluca Prestianni, currently with Vélez Sarsfield, has opened up about the reported interest from Portuguese giants Benfica. Club president Fabian Berlanda has already confirmed that the promising young talent is set to become part of the Eagles’ squad.
Prestianni, who turns 18 on January 31, discussed the potential move to Benfica, acknowledging the offer from the European club. However, he maintained a focus on his current commitment to Vélez, where he has a contract until the next year and, by league regulations, cannot leave before turning 18.
In a statement to ESPN Generación F, Prestianni stated, “I don’t know anything yet. I am aware that there is an offer from a European club, but I haven’t inquired about the details. I am with Vélez today, and my contract runs until the next year. Until I turn 18, I prefer not to get involved in discussions. I have informed my agent not to share any details with me.”
When probed about his aspirations, Prestianni expressed a dual dream: achieving success with Vélez and making a mark in European football. The talented winger has showcased his abilities in 33 appearances and contributed three goals to Vélez Sarsfield during the 2023 season.
As the transfer saga unfolds, the prospect of Gianluca Prestianni joining Benfica adds anticipation to the upcoming transfer window. The young Argentine’s potential move to the Eagles could be a significant step in his burgeoning career, and fans are eager to witness the impact he might bring to the Portuguese side in the future.
