After being World Champion, Boca Juniors Releases Him and Signs with Almirante Brown

World Champion Released by Boca Juniors, Signs with Almirante Brown

Despite his footballing abilities, Boca Juniors’ directors did not find a place for him and released him. He has now signed with Almirante Brown.

After Éver Banega failed to join Boca Juniors and arranged his return to Newell’s Old Boys, the La Ribera club officials lost a world champion footballer as they did not renew his contract. Now, his career will continue in the Argentine football’s lower divisions.

It has not been a good end to 2023 for many youth players at Boca Juniors, as six of them were left without their contract and had to find new destinations. One of these cases is Rodrigo Pittavino, a winger who played in the Reserve team under the guidance of Mariano Herrón.

After Juan Román Riquelme and the members of the Football Council avoided calling his representative to extend his stay at Boca Juniors, Pittavino held discussions with Almirante Brown and signed a contract until December 31, 2024.

Although Rodrigo Pittavino did not make his debut in Boca Juniors’ first team, he achieved individual glory by winning the Copa Libertadores Sub-20 and the Intercontinental Cup in the same category. Now, he will seek redemption at Almirante Brown, with the primary objective of securing promotion to the Professional Football League.

Rodrigo Pittavino’s Recent Time at Boca Juniors

Rodrigo Pittavino plays as a winger and, although he was not a regular starter in Boca Juniors’ Reserve team, he was part of the squad that won the Copa Libertadores, playing a total of 4 matches. In the final against Independiente del Valle, he remained on the substitute bench without entering the pitch.

Other Released Boca Juniors Players

In addition to Rodrigo Pittavino, other players from the 2003 age category who were also champions of the Copa Libertadores Sub-20 have been left without their contract after failing to sign their first professional contract. These players are Valentín Fascendini, Santiago Gauna, Natan Acosta, Elian Sosa Vivaldi, and Bruno Cenci.
